Picking battles, not noses

I’m tired today.  Partly because I’ve been staying up really late, scanning old negatives.  It’s a project that I’ve wanted to work on for a while and there’s never really a good time to start and finish a project like that.  But, I want to do it.  I’m also tired partly because I’ve been playing this video game called “Parenting”.  Have you heard of it?  There are a lot of obstacles and it’s not easy.  I’ve been running into roadblocks and trying to figure out ways around, over or through them.  It requires a lot of thinking and making choices.  Some of the choices are simple and some could majorly affect the game play in the long run.

You would think that the longer you play the game, the easier it would become.  Traveling down the same paths, over and over again.  But that’s a common misconception.  The longer you play the game, the harder it is.  More choices have to be made.  Battles have to be chosen carefully along the way.  It’s hard to keep from getting frustrated.  It’s only a game, right?  Also, the game seems to get smarter, the longer you play it.  Fascinating.

This game, Parenting, is difficult and rewarding.  It’s a balancing act and some days are more balanced than others.  The unbalanced days go by so slowly.  More thinking and choices have to be made.  It’s exhausting.  It’s challenging.  The balanced days are so satisfying and uplifting.

If you’re looking for a good challenge, I highly recommend this game.

  1. ME too!! I was exhausted at 7 last night! It is a tough game! :)
