In the blink of an eye

This summer has been action-packed.  I loved it!  We traveled here, there and everywhere.  It doesn’t surprise me that we are near the end of the season already.  I was happy to keep busy for the past few months because I knew Hailey would need things to look forward to after finishing her first year of preschool.  Unfortunately, we miss the kindergarten cut-off by a month, so she’s going back for her second year of preschool in just two and a half weeks.

I’m not sad about it, on the contrary.  I’m actually happy about it.  She loves being with her friends and learning.  When we weren’t traveling this summer, she had to fend for herself most of the time because I was working and tending to her busy baby sister.  Not much fun for a creative 4-1/2 year old.  So, in two in a half weeks, my big girl will go back to school again, at a new school.

She’ll make new friends and have new teachers.  She’ll come home with homework and new ideas.  All of this makes me smile.  I love to see her grow and learn.  I love talking to her about school and her friends and what she’s doing.  I know it really gives her a sense of purpose.  If they were to give out awards this school-year, Hailey would get the one for “Most traveled”.  We were going to make a scrapbook of our summer fun so she had something to show her new friends.  I suppose we’d better get right on that because in the blink of an eye, she’ll be walking into her new classroom on her first day.
