That BIG, sweet smell reminds me of home

Last night, I cut some Lilacs from my in-law’s Lilac bush.  Oh, how Lilacs remind me of home.  The home where I grew up.  They remind me of being young.

Oh, how their big, sweet scent just fills the air.  I could sit and breathe in that sweetness all day long.  Fortunately, all I have to do is walk into my kitchen, close my eyes and take a big, deep breath…and I’m home again.

I wish I could have you all over to wrap yourself in this sweet aroma of Spring flowers.  You can close your eyes and pretend if you want…

I’m learning to enjoy life again. I am so thankful for these simple little pleasures.  What does it take for you to melt away?  Does it take the sweet smell of flowers?  Soaking in the bath tub?  Drinking a nice glass of red wine?  All of the above?  :)

Can someone tell me how to make these Lilacs last all year round?

Day 19 – NaBloPoMo

April = Big

  1. Oh, me too me too!

    We had a HUGE lilac just at the end of our front porch. That scent immediately transports me back to childhood too. Even now, if I walk past one in bloom, I have to stop and just breathe deep.

  2. My lilac tree here in PA is just in bud. I can’t wait until it is in full bloom. I just hope we don’t get a heavy frost before they get a chance to bloom so I can pick a bouquet and bring them in the house. You must remember that I did that every year. I love the smell of lilacs !!!
