Worth Noting: Take 2 (a crawling update)

On August 26th, 2006, I wrote a post called “Worth Noting“.  Every time I look at the title I think it says, “Worth NOTHING“.  That’s so very far from the truth.

The post was written in “real time” as Hailey crawled out of the room for the very first time.  I read that post to her today, four years later, and she listened intently.  I held her hand while I read it, as if I was trying to channel my emotions into her, so she could truly feel how that moment felt to me.  She sort of just gave me a blank stare.  Hopefully someday she’ll understand.

I digress.  The reason this came up is because Teagan made her way to the edge of the living room today.  I said that she would be crawling by the end of this week.  Well, she’s not “crawling-crawling” but she’s progressed from just rolling around everywhere to this sort of a get up on her hands and knees and flop forward thing, which then turns into an army crawl when she’s close enough to grab whatever it is she’s after.  It works for her, I guess.

Yesterday, she did take two “crawls” forward.  Right hand forward, left hand forward, flop.  She understands how it’s supposed to work.  She’s just working on making the connection now.

Today, she figured out how to sit up all by herself.  She practiced most of the day.  I caught the first attempt on video because I was recording her trying to crawl.  That worked for me.

*Update*

I didn’t get this posted when I wanted to, so it is going up a few days later than anticipated (story of my life).

We’re still at about the same point, no full-fledged crawling yet.  She gets herself where she wants to go by army crawling and rolling.  She’s still up rocking on all fours and will occasionally take a couple of crawls but she’s quite content just doing that.

Today, (which, was actually yesterday because it’s after midnight) she was able to pull herself up a little bit on our ottoman.  I had left the room and when I came back in, Hailey was picking up the things that Teagan had knocked onto the floor.  Then, she pulled herself up again.

The wheels are turning…fast.

  1. GREAT shots there of the sequence of ‘the crawl’
