In case you were wondering who the baby is in the recent photos on this blog, its Teagan. Teagan has been around since the beginning of last July and I’ve barely posted any updates on her. I generally only find time to post photos and a few words. After Hailey was born, I posted right and left about her progress and what life was like as a mom. I need to get crackin’ on the updates about Teagan; she’s almost seven months old. I’m working on turning over some new leaves right now, (thanks to a positive and uplifting conversation I had with my brother the other night) so bear with me. Updating this blog about our girls is very important to me and I am trying not to lose sight of that.

Life sure got busy before and after Teagan was born. I started a job, became more active on Twitter and Facebook, which played a part in ruining my blogging because it’s easier to write in 140 character increments or click “Like” under someone’s status update. Sometimes, I’m better at leaving comments on other people’s blogs and I stop and say to myself, “Hmmm. That would make a good blog post.” Then, I click submit and my lengthy comment has been left and I’m left without a blog post once again.

I digress. Seven months have just flown by. They were not easy at first, as I have mentioned previously. But starting around month five, Teagan finally began to settle in. She screamed less while in her car seat and started napping better. I think much of her problem those first few months had a lot to do with reflux. She was just never comfortable. I always dreaded having to take her out, so I spent a lot of time inside.

We started feeding her solid food mid-December and she didn’t hesitate to try it out. So far, she eats everything we have tried with her including; green beans, peas, squash, carrots, sweet potatoes and miscellaneous fruit, which she loves. We’re moving on to 2nd foods, people! She eats oatmeal in the morning and rice or mixed cereal at night. I was nervous because I couldn’t remember what it was like to move from only giving a bottle to solid foods. We’ve settled nicely into the routine.

Now she’s teething. I think the process really started around the end of December and has progressively gotten more noticeable and more uncomfortable for her. She popped her first tooth (bottom right) last week and this week, seems to be in quite a bit of pain again, so I’m sure the next one will be making its appearance soon. I’ve been working with her on “chewing”. While she’s sitting in her Bumbo seat, I have been giving her those little puffs they make for babies. She watches me make the chewing motion and then tries to imitate me with the puff in her mouth. It’s cute. At least, I think it is. She’s been doing great with it. We’ve given her little pieces of cracker and bread and she’s all for it.

She’s vocalizing quite a bit. She’s gotten out a “mama” a few times and of course, we’re working on “dada”. Next, we’ll work on who exactly “mama” and “dada”, the people, are.

She’s a very mobile baby. She’s moving much earlier than Hailey did at this age. She’s been rolling belly to back since she was three months old and not long after, back to belly. She still gets “stuck” and I can’t figure out why because she knows how to do both! She’s starting to leap forward when she’s sitting and she still falls over when she’s sitting. She so badly wants to move. She’s been trying to tuck her knees under and lift her front up. I think she’s starting to “get” that is how she’s going to be able to get somewhere. Although, she’s been doing a good job of rolling to get to another spot in the room. I have been giving Hailey the heads up that it won’t be long before Teagan follows her around like a little puppy.

That about sums it up. It’s been an experience caring for a second child along with all of the other things going on in our lives. Eric and I have both been trying to get back into some sort of normal routine. It has not been easy, that I can tell you for sure. But we’re dedicated and that’s what counts.
