I’m writing this post tonight because a lovely friend is going through some serious heartache. Though I can’t take her heartache away, I can do my best to bring a smile to her face and hopefully help her feel an extra ounce of energy as she faces each new day.
We met during a gathering of spectacular women who blog. She was friendly and inviting and I instantly knew she could be someone I could call a friend. We hung out in San Francisco, partied at Guy Kawasaki’s house, laughed hysterically, stayed up till the wee hours of the morning and even cried a little, too.

We once got all hot and bothered chatting with Patrick Dempsey on the phone

and on another occasion, squeezed into a photobooth for some candid shots.

We didn’t see nearly enough of each other when she lived just over an hour away. If she didn’t live so far now, I would most definitely hop in the car and show up on her doorstep with a hot meal and some brownies.
I’m writing this because I so very much want her to smile, even if it’s just a quick one. I just want her to feel a sense of peace again, even if it’s just for a moment.
I pray that each day her heartache gets a little easier to manage. There’s not a single person who can take it away but we can do our best to lift her up and ease her forward.
Thinking of you, sweet friend.

Deepest condolences to Arianne. I only met her a couple of times, but she was so nice, kind, and genuine. —Joanne.
