Two little pumpkins

October just slipped right away from me.  Preoccupied with the preschooler and the baby, most other things take a backseat.  Although, this post has been on my mind for weeks.

This year we continue the tradition of painting the next letter in Hailey’s name on a pumpkin and we start the tradition with Teagan!  It’s fun to have two little pumpkins to watch grow up now.

In case you don’t remember, we brought Hailey home from her eight-day NICU stay on October 30, 2005.  That was the day before my birthday, Halloween.

She slept for the majority of that Halloween and if I remember correctly, we just sat around and stared at her a lot.

In October of 2006, Hailey had just turned one.  We dressed her as a ladybug, which was quite fitting.  No trick-or-treating yet!  She did get her fill of sugary birthday cake that year though.  In October of 2007, she turned two.  No “real” trick-or-treating again but she did dress up as an adorable pink and black leopard for our local Safety Town Halloween event.  It was good trick-or-treating practice.  In October of 2008, she turned three and finally got to experience the fun of knocking on doors and being handed free candy just for looking cute!  This year, October of 2009, the fun continued and little Miss. Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz (age four) didn’t need any coaching.  She knew just what to do out there and raced to get to the next house.

Last but not least!  This was Teagan’s first Halloween (just shy of four months old) and we started the pumpkin tradition with her (recognize the Halloween jammies?):

As always, we have our friends at Once Upon a Dream to thank for the pumpkin tradition!
