My baby turned four today. I just sat and looked through pictures from the last four years and still shake my head in disbelief at how quickly these years have passed. I feel like I’ve missed something. I can’t put it into words but I am still not quite sure how we got here…to this fourth year. I’m a week away from turning 32 and am starting to realize that these years just fly by.
The day she was born…

…five weeks early. We missed our first seven nights with her because she was in the hospital NICU for her first eight days. That was agonizing. I’ll never forget it. I wanted her home with us so badly. No cake! Just mama’s milk. :)
Her first birthday…

She spent the first part of her first birthday in southern Illinois and then in the car for the long ride home. We still had a big birthday party for her though and she enjoyed every minute…of her cake!

Her second birthday…

…was low key and spent with family. My attempt at a birthday cake:

Her third birthday…

The first part was spent at our favorite babysitter’s house and then the evening was spent at home, just the three of us (at the time). My attempt at her cake. Looks a lot like the one from the year before! Although, the candy flowers were a nice touch. Don’t worry, I have many more birthdays to get the hang of this.

Aaaaaand her FOURTH birthday…

We had what we call a “girl’s day” today. Hailey, Teagan and I went to lunch at Red Robin, which was Hailey’s choice for her birthday lunch. She told anyone who walked by or stopped at our table that today was her birthday. :) We had her birthday party the other day and this year, I skipped the birthday cake attempt and just ordered the one I wanted for her. There’s always next year…

The past four years with Hailey have been so fun. I watched her so much today and just admired what a lovely little girl she has become.
Happy birthday you sweet, sweet girl!
