35 weeks pregnant and entering into the “unknown”

So, I’ve made it.  Here I am, 35 weeks pregnant.

This is as far as I got with my first pregnancy.  This pregnancy could be (and has been) pretty different.  Though, I can’t help but try to be totally prepared that this baby is coming soon.  Like, a week or two soon.  I really don’t know but I talk about it a lot.  My body seems to be telling me that it is getting ready…that she is getting ready.  I have contractions quite often now.  I sit and think, “Could my water break any minute?”  I mean, I really don’t know what to expect past this point.  I could very well be in labor right now, like I was with Hailey, and not even know it.  I could also feel this way, this uncomfortable, for another 5 weeks.  Another FIVE weeks of this?  Really?

What is it like to be pregnant past 35 weeks?

I am actually ready.  I mean, I have all of the “stuff” ready to go.  The only thing that is not ready is my bag for the hospital.  I didn’t have time to get a bag ready last time.  Not a complete bag of stuff, anyway.  This time, I want to be prepared with the cameras and clothes and whatnot.  This time, I have a preschooler to worry about.  I worry about my water breaking and how fast the contractions started last time.  Will there be time to get someone here to stay with her or to get her to someone’s house and make it to the hospital in time?

If only you could plan these things out perfectly.

These are my feet, aka my “pancake feet”.  They stay swollen almost all of the time now.  They don’t hurt but they are funny to look at.  My hands hurt and my fingers are numb the majority of the time.  It bothers me a lot, especially at night.  Oh, and the snoring.  Seriously, I hear it and I wake myself up.  That has to stop after this baby is born.  If it doesn’t, there will be issues.

I see my regular doctor tomorrow and then every week thereafter that I’m still pregnant.  I plan to tell him that I think I’m probably starting to go into labor.  He’ll probably laugh at me.  I see the perinatologist for the last time next week.  That will tell the tale on if I’m right or not.  Time will tell.  Either way, we’re in the homestretch now!
