28 weeks and counting

I’m in my 28th week of this pregnancy and so far, it feels like it’s been flying by.  Weeks 7 through 14 didn’t – they went as slow as could be because I was sick the entire time but now that I feel good, the weeks are just disappearing in the blink of an eye.

We are keeping pretty busy this Spring and I know before I know it, July will be here and we’ll be ready for this little girl to make her appearance.

Since I haven’t updated in a while on the pregnancy, things have ben going smoothly (fingers crossed) and as far as we know right now, no sign of preterm labor.  Eric has been giving me my 17P (Progesterone) shot every week.  He does a great job, even though I know it is hard for him to do.  It’s not easy for me either, being the one getting the shot!  We’re doing what’s best for me and the baby and that’s what keeps us going.  I see my doctor every two weeks now and every visit, we get to hear the baby’s heartbeat.  Hailey has been joining me for each appointment and she’s always eager to talk to my doctor about her “friend” (usually a stuffed animal from her vast collection).  They have at least a good 5 minute chat each visit.  I couldn’t be happier with my doctor.  I also visit the perinatologist again in three weeks to check on preterm labor.  That will most likely be my last visit with him.  The closer I get to the 33 week mark, the more nervous I am.  I was in preterm labor with Hailey at 33 weeks and the memories are beginning to flood back.

On a side note, I failed my first gestational diabetes screening.  I take the 3-hour screening this Saturday, so for three days, I am on a 150 gram or more carbohydrate “diet”.  Believe me, that’s not hard for me to do at all.  Hopefully, the first screening wasn’t accurate.  But if it was and if I do or do not pass my next screening, I need to focus on eating better for me and this new little girl.  I have not been doing a good job of eating well, that’s for sure.  I also found out that I am anemic this pregnancy.  I just pop an extra iron pill every night and that should do the trick (or so I’m told).

Me this week (week 28)

The movements in my belly are getting stronger and stronger.  Today, I was rubbing my stomach a lot and several times, felt this hard little bump, which was most likely her knee or foot.  I loved it.  I have been pretty honest that feeling her move has been a little disturbing this pregnancy.  I am not sure if it’s because of her position or if it’s just because I’m starting to get more uncomfortable, the bigger I get.  As much as I am hoping to go full term this time, I sure am anxious to wrap my arms around this tiny little girl.

Oh, and we do NOT have a name picked out yet.  We throw names around here and there but have not officially settled on anything.  I still question whether we will settle on a name before she’s born!  Naming Hailey seemed so much easier compared to naming this baby.  I have been quite content just calling her “my baby”, so we’ll just go with that for now.  Hailey has thrown out a couple of name suggestions; her newest is “Peek-a-boo”.  It’s quite adorable and isn’t there an Olympian named Peek-a-boo?  I could handle having an Olympian as a child…
