Hard to believe almost a month has passed since Christmas. We’ve been bearing the cold Midwest weather and hoping that Spring shows up early this year.

I’ve been sick from the pregnancy for the past seven weeks and in my book, I haven’t been much fun for an energetic little three year old. Our days are long but that really doesn’t seem to phase Hailey. She wakes up by 7:30 am every single morning, raring to go. Her imagination runs wild and she’s still singing Christmas carols! We just laugh because it’s too cute to continue reminding her that Christmas is over. That doesn’t seem to bother her one bit. Rudolph and Frosty are still on the tip of her tongue.

We talk about the baby and she understands that this “baby” is with me, in my tummy. I’m sure she still doesn’t quite understand that in seven months, her life as the only child will be turned upside down. We hope it’s an “easy” transition, of course. She insists that she’s getting a little sister.
We just couldn’t adore her more. She’s constantly playing make believe with her stuffed animals and other toys. She talks continuously from the time she wakes up until the time she goes to bed (and then some). She always has something to tell us. She likes “reassurance”. She’ll give us a scenario and then wait for us to confirm that her idea was correct. Even if it’s not, she’ll argue with us until we let her win. We’ve learned to pick our battles, or, I should say, we’re still learning.

Lately, she has really taken a liking to drawing. She draws so many pictures every day. Of course, we’re going to scan them and show them off soon enough. She likes to draw pictures of elephants, cats, stairs and turtles. Her ability to stay within the lines when coloring pictures is quite impressive for a three year old, I must say.

She also loves playing dress up and doesn’t like to leave out Ollie. She loves dressing him up, too. He actually doesn’t seem to mind. I knew this day would come.

So, that’s the story. We can’t wait to get back outside and enjoy some nice weather or even reasonably cool weather. This below zero stuff is not our cup of tea. I am looking forward to feeling better and hoping that happens sooner rather than later. We’re going to add a gallery of Hailey’s drawings soon. They are so ridiculously cute.
Until then…

That is so funny! I think Tyler was the same last year. We watched Rudolph, Frosty, and Santa and the Snowman all year long. It does end but maybe not until next year! Ha!
