As the Johnson’s Camp Baby trip and the Disney Mom Blogger Mixer trip and the start of my new job as a recruiter all get closer, of course I’m thinking more and more about my small, almost non-existent wardrobe. I just cleared out a ton of those “Oh, maybe I’ll wear this again sometime” items to make room for the “I’m going to wear the snot out of the next five shirts I buy” items.
I really don’t know “what’s in” as far as Spring fashion ’08 is concerned so of course I browsed some of my favorite store’s websites to find out. I found some tops and bottoms that I thought were reasonably priced and that I could mix and match if need be.
One upcoming trip is to New Jersey and one is to Florida (Disney, holla!). We’re dealing with two completely different climates here. I’m not going to go all tropical because I doubt I’d wear those clothes again very often in the Midwest or on the east coast. I’ve got quite a few pictures of my online findings to share.
We’ll begin with one of my most favorite stores, NY & Company. I found a nice array of apparel there that could be worn in either climate.
This is the City Bell Sleeve Top (can’t find the link!). Totally comfy-looking and can be paired with denim or khakis and next to it, the City Style Pocket Front Shirt. Love the long sleeves underneath. You can totally dress up this look with some large beads like the headless chick in the picture.

I am really not a shorts kind of girl. I generally opt for capris, crops or skirts. Basically because I have a petite frame (not as in “skinny” either), so I end up looking like a stub when I have shorts on. Here are some nice East Village denim crops. Perfect for any down-time (hopefully there will not be a lot of that!) and just hanging around with the other fab mom-bloggers I meet. The City Fashion Poplin Crops are a great pick for pairing with dressy tops or caj’ tops. Throw on some sexy heels for strutting about cocktail hour or slip into some sandals when you and the girls are just hanging about each other’s rooms.

I’m not sure how dressed up we need to be at either of these events, I’m assuming it will be up to us. Some may come in jeans and tees and some may come dressed in the newest trends. That being said, I think I will bring along a dress, just in case something “more formal” comes up. I totally fell in love with this City Style Circle Shift dress. This would look adorable with some black strappy sandals.! Of course, I’d pair it up with a light-weight cardigan because I hate my upper arms.

On to Forever 21. I’ve shopped there ONCE. I thought it was a store for the younger crowd but I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed that there were some very tasteful pieces of clothing. God, I sound OLD. Check out this cute Stripe Bow Knit Top. Pair it up with some leggings and some ballet flats and you can rock it Danielle Wiley style. She always looks so damn cute and fashionable every time I see her. Danielle, your fashion sense is calling and it’s saying, “Let Amy borrow me for a while!” Then there is the light and airy Crochet SS Top. I’m thinking that’s a go for the spring Florida weather, plus it can be casual or dressy.

If I were going to Florida on “business”, I would absolutely opt for this Exec 3Q Blazer in coral. Nothing says Florida like the color coral, right? How sharp would this blazer look with a black dress underneath? Work and play, baby!

I’m really on the fence about spring jackets right now. I’m not a really dressy-type of girl, so I tend to wear a lot of cotton zip-up jackets to keep my arms warm. I’m on a hunt for a spring jacket and so far, I just haven’t found one I really love. I’ll keep you posted.
I see a lot of these “trapeze” style cardigans/jackets floating around. They’re really not my cup of tea, primarily because I don’t think I can pull off that look. However, I did find this apt. 9 Trapeze Yoke Sweater and this apt. 9 Trapeze Cardigan at Kohl’s. I’ll have to try them on to see what all of the fuss is about.

We just got a new G by Guess store at our mall and I haven’t ventured into it yet. By the looks of some of the things I saw online, I will most definitely head in. The prices are a lot cheaper there than an actual Guess store, so that’s a plus.
I found this comfy Pacific Fashion Tee that once again, can be paired with denim or khaki’s for a casual or dressy look. I would accessorize with this one…the neckline is wide enough to do so. I’m also kind of into the graphic tees. G has some cute ones to pick from like this SS T – G Fleur tee. You could easily throw a blazer over this tee for a business casual look.

I think you can see by now that I dress pretty “safely” and I tend to stick with neutral colors. Maybe if I were more comfortable in my own skin, I’d branch out a little more. Until that happens, my style will be the new black.
I also like this Hope Belted Tunic. It’s bright and cheery, see? I could rock this on the Tower of Terror for sure.

I also frequent H&M for the bug and myself but ironically, I didn’t come up with anything special to feature here.
The shoes I will definitely bring along on my trips will be my new Malindi Cotton Candy color Crocs. I’ve been wearing them around, trying to break them in and I think they will be perfect for the streets of the Magic Kingdom. They feel a little like walking on air. My Vans Canvas slip-ons are usually what I have on and they will probably be my airport shoes. They are by far the comfiest sneakers I own. Of course, I’ll throw a pair of flip-flops and strappy sandals into my suitcase for whatever else comes up.

I found myself a nice little Coach knockoff too. It’s VERY similar to the Coach Heritage Stripe Swingpack that you see pictured here, except the “Cs” have an extra line and the colors are very spring-like. Can’t wait to show it off!

Ok, that’s all I have for now. After I physically go shopping, I may come back with some other options.

Love them! I have those exact crocs but I’m not sure it’s going to be warm enough in NJ – and I’m not going on the Disney trip.
