I’m a college basketball fan by default. My husband is a sports fan. He’s into college basketball, NFL football, NCAA football, baseball and soccer. When we first started talking to each other via snail mail back in the day, I remember this statement that he made in one of his letters to me: “I’m a boy, so I like SportsCenter“. To this day, I always remind him of that. I thought it was kind of cute (tee-hee)!
So the favorite college basketball team that my husband loves to hate are the Illini. In all of the years I’ve been with Eric, there has only been one truly amazing season, which was the 2004-2005 season. We even have the highlights from that season on DVD. I had morning sickness early 2005 too, another reason I remember it so well.
So, that all being said, of course our daughter will be brought up as a Fighting Illini fan. She was sporting her Illini cheerleading outfit this past Sunday for their last game. Check her out back in 2006. I’m glad she has pigtails now, yes, that is the same child in both pictures.

We filled out our March Madness brackets yesterday, even though I don’t follow any other team. I believe I picked Kansas to win. My brother should love that one, as he is a Kansas fan. My other brother will not be happy, as he is a North Carolina fan. I’m not sure what teams my other brother’s like. (Are you confused yet?)
Eric even had Hailey fill out a bracket. I had to yell at him once or twice because he was hounding her about the teams she picked. “She’s only two and a half! Geeeez.” He ended up switching around his questions to her, turning the teams into animals and whatnot. So, we have three brackets going. I think the tournament has probably already started, so I’m off to check the scores!

Aaaahhhh! That is absolutely the cutest thing I have seen all week!
