Tonight, we treated ourselves to dinner at Friday’s. We didn’t have to wait very long but were well-prepared (i.e., we brought the DVD player, goldfish crackers, a book and a toy) for any catastrophes just in case.
We sat down and our waiter took our drink orders. After we were all settled in with our drinks, the bug raised her sippy cup and gave a toast to her wonderful, caring parents who nurture her and care for her very deeply. Eric and I raised our glasses with her and the following took place:
The bug: “Cheers!”
Mommy & Daddy: (in unison) “Cheers!”
(after a few more “Cheers” and the clanking of plastic to plastic, we went about eating our dinner)
Me: (to the daddy) “I guess I really never thought I’d be toasting with my two year old.”
the Daddy: (to the mommy) “I never thought my two year old would say ‘crunk’.”
the Daddy: (to the two year old in the crunkiest voice he could manage) “Hailey, say, ‘Gittin’ crunk.”
Hailey: (very happy to oblige) “Gittin’ crunk”.
Sooooo, I guess we’re even now?

…i’ve heard some unfortunate things come out of violet’s mouth. things she got from me.Hailey makes me giggle.Let’s do a play day next week. Otherwise I may lock myself in my exploded house and cry.
