Super Tuesday arrived and I was going to vote come hell or high water. Hell didn’t come but the high water did. I swear, if we get any more precipitation around here, my house is going to float away.
The weather was so nasty last Tuesday and the bug seemed to sleep extra long. I actually had to wake her up to make sure I was able to get out and vote. Fortunately, our voting place is right down the street at our fire station (literally, I can walk there). I was afraid we may have to wait in a long line, so we left the house prepared. We had carrots and dip, milk, goldfish, cheese sticks and the DVD player. Oh yeah, I was ready. Well, we got there and happened to be second in line, so I didn’t have to break out much of the toddler survival kit.
I have to admit, I was only leaning *slightly* toward one Democratic candidate than the other and really only made my absolute, final decision when my pen hit the voting ballot. My mind raced as my pen lowered onto the paper…what do I like more about this one or that one? Look ahead, Amy. Do you see one candidate making a better future for you and your family than the other? Do you think one is quite possibly more experienced than the other? Will you regret your decision?
After I made my choice on official paper and received my fancy “I Voted” sticker, I didn’t look back. I was satisfied with my decision. No regrets. I’m also at peace with the belief that even if my candidate of choice does not make the final cut, that the other Democratic candidate will also make a fine President.
Then, Wednesday evening, my toddler developed a fever. Fast forward to Friday and then I became sick. We’ve been miserable ever since. Are we being punished for the choice that I made last Tuesday? Nah…I think she’ll make a fabulous President.
