The new They Might Be Giants’ album and DVD, “Here Come the 123s” was released today. Now, if you’re an avid Disney channel watcher like us, you may have already heard a few songs from the follow-up to TMBGs’ kid-friendly album, “Here Come the ABCs”.
One song in particular that I CAN NOT GET OUT OF MY HEAD is “Zeroes”. It’s got such a catchy tune and a funky little beat and the most adorable little birdies and owls singing, “ZeroooooOOOOOes!”. I walk around singing that song all day long, not even realizing it until the bug looks at me and says, “Mommy. No singing!” At least her demand doesn’t come out in a British accent followed by, “That wus tha waust awdition EVA!” (“Waust” translates to “worst” in case you haven’t figured that out.)
Anyway, we’ve been long time fans of They Might Be Giants and just love that they’ve branched out to produce some fun music for the kids.
I can’t find the “Zeroooooes!” video to embed in this post, so the best I can do is direct you HERE to hear the song and watch the video (Click the video tab). I even grabbed the cute owl desktop wallpaper background from their site (Click link, right-click image and “set as desktop background”).
Here is the They Might Be Giants – High Five video from the TMBG FREE Friday Night Family Podcast. It’s super dancey and sprinkled with a disco vibe:

If you share your iPod with the little one, I highly recommend subscribing to TMBG’s free weekly video Podcast HERE (Click link, click “music podcast”. That will open your iTunes program and allow you to subscribe).
Here are two of our very favorite They Might Be Giant songs from the past:

Haven’t had enough of TMBG yet? Zooglobble has a pretty comprehensive post up that you can CHECK OUT too.

keep it cool, old school! i freaking love “high five”. we’ve been able to catch several of the videos on the dvr when we tape shows, and i’m always excited when they come on. TMBG annoy me as an “alternative band”, but as a kids band, they’re the bomb.
We LOVE TMBG here and have the dvd and cd of the abc’s (I sort of feel like I used way too many letters in that sentence!) I had no idea they had another cd with numbers. How cool! My kids (and I) will love this!
We’ve had the abc’s forever, but conor is pretty excited about the numbers one, on account of he’s a giant math dork. I think, thus far, he’s been disappointed at the lack of mathematical concepts in the songs though. I like the zeros song the best too though.
I looove owls. thanks for the wallpaper!
We love this at our house, too!Nat
ACK! Now I’m singing that Zeroes song! Zeroooooooooo! Zeroooooooooo! Thanks. :| Talk to ya soon about Friday!Lund
