Even before her 2nd birthday, Hailey was well aware of what a birthday cake is. She owns a book called “Blankie“, which she can almost recite by heart and one page in that book lists the following things:
“I love kitty.”
“I love bear.”
“I LOVE birthday cake.”
Well, she loves birthday cake. It’s obvious from the pictures shown below. There was no crying when we sang:
She blew out her candles:
She cheered for herself:
She didn’t bother with a fork, which wasn’t much different than last year’s birthday:
and I think she enjoyed the cake this year as much as she did last year, only she was a little less “messy” this year:
Oh, one more thing…I thought this was quite lovely. A ladybug actually joined us on at the table while we were singing to Hailey. Stranger things have happened. =)

That is so cute! I can’t believe how much older she looks in one year! We love birthday cake in Staten Island, too. Some of us love it a little too much! Natalie
Can you believe the Lady Bug showed up for the birthday !!! I’m sure it was in honor of “Lady Bug Picnic”.
oh my gosh, first of all, just LOOK at the side by side pics of last vs. this year! look how big she is! and look at her hair! she’s just too cute amy!!!love the story about the live ladybug joining you all. that’s so sweet and appropriate and just wierd! love it. great pics!
