This is what happens when I turn on the new Nick Jr. show, “Yo Gabba Gabba“:
Hailey turns into a zombie.
I happen to be one of those horrible parents who likes to have the t.v. on for background noise. Hailey happens to be one of those kids who really doesn’t care about the t.v. She will watch it sporadically while running out into her play area to play. She rarely sits through any shows. Mainly, we only have on PBS (Word World, Super Why, Arthur, Curious George). Those are our regular daily shows. Again, she RARELY sits through them.
But if I put on Yo Gabba Gabba (or as we call it “crack for kids”) she doesn’t move an inch. The show is odd. Everything about it is. Why does that suck kids in? Needless to say, we don’t watch Yo Gabba Gabb on a regular basis. I only turn it on for her when I need a good 20 minutes to myself without clinging, whining or crying. Like I said, I’m a horrible parent. =)

I’m with you there. I haven’t even let Jack see it yet. The bits he gets from the commercial at the end of Blue’s Clues is usually enough. I think I might have to poke my eyes out if I had to have that on for more than 30 seconds!!But…I can totally understand wanting something that pins the child down for a few minutes. I don’t have one of those right now. Jack rarely doesn’t care about watching TV unless he’s tired. At which point I put him to bed. ;)
