I’ve posted here and there about Hailey having frequent nose bleeds over the past few weeks (haven’t I?). Ok, well if I haven’t, now you know. One morning she woke up I couldn’t even see her face, she was completely covered in dry blood. Kicked myself for not checking on her when she was fussing in the middle of the night. I learned my lesson with that one.

Anyway, it was Monday night around 11:30 pm and she started crying. I went in to check on her and she was bleeding badly from her nose. It was just pouring out. She would cough and it would spray out all over the place. Her mouth was all bloody too. There was a little freak out session then. She really wouldn’t let us pinch her nose like they say to do. Long story short, I made an appointment for her to see an ear, nose, throat specialist.

That appointment was today. I really had no idea what to expect. I figured that he would look up her nose to try to see what the cause was. I was a little taken back when two nurses came into the room and started putting gloves on and they numbed Hailey’s nose and I was told to hold her down. I had to have help because of course, she was terrified.

The doctor cauterized the inside of her right nostril. He said she had scratched it and that’s why she was having the nosebleeds. Hopefully this procedure will help prevent her nose from bleeding again. That and the constant trimming of her little fingernails.

So now, I am the hated one. She doesn’t really want much to do with me right now. Can’t say I blame her…if someone was pinning me down, I wouldn’t be very happy with them either.

I guess that’s how it goes when you’re a parent. You love them unconditionally even if they want nothing to do with you.
