We went to St. Louis

…over Labor Day weekend. Hailey’s Uncle Kurt and Aunt Kelly, K&K for short, live there. It was mine and Eric’s second time to St. Louis and Hailey’s first.

We had a fab time. Did a lot of sight-seeing, eating out (GREAT pizza places!) and just having an all-around good time away from home for a long weekend. It was nice for Hailey to get re-acquainted with her aunt and uncle, as we don’t get to see them very often anymore with everyone’s busy schedules.

While at their apartment, a new friend was made. Sophie. K&K have two cats, Sophie and Lucky. Lucky doesn’t like to show her face very often but Sophie was pretty intrigued with Hailey…from a distance. We had a nameless toy kitty until this weekend. Toy kitty is now called “Sophie” after K&K’s cat. One night during the weekend when Hailey, Eric and I were sleeping on our air mattress (thanks Kerry!), Hailey started talking about “Sophie” in her sleep. We tried so hard not to laugh and wake her up. It was so cute.

I was also able to meet a blogging friend (now real life friend!) of mine. Liz who writes at Marriage-101. Liz and I found each other earlier last year, just before her wedding and while Hailey was still a little tot. We’ve followed each other ever since and it was nice to finally get to meet her in person. She brought a little “gift” for Hailey, a My Little Pony!

Thanks for the new pony and meeting us for lunch, Liz! :)

We took Hailey to the St. Louis Zoo, which by the way is a FANTASTIC zoo. We really liked it a lot. We haven’t made it to any other zoos this summer (not counting the “farm animal” zoo, Cosley), so it was a real treat for her to get to hang out with the penguins and other assorted real animals. I was starting to worry that she thought that real animals came in the small size like her Schleich animals.

After dinner one night, we went to the park near K&K’s apartment. It was fun playing in the dark!

Before we left for the weekend, Kurt, Eric, Hailey and I stopped at the St. Louis Arch. The last time Eric and I were in town, we didn’t make it there to see it up close. It really is HUGE and I had no idea that you could actually take tours inside of it or that there is a tourist center underground. It was pretty fascinating to go up and touch this national landmark. Hails was pretty impressed too, I think.

We’re looking forward to visiting with K&K again soon! Thanks for having us and we miss you guys!

  1. Look! It’s me! I was so glad I finally got to meet you and the little love bug. I wasn’t feeling too great, so I apologize for being a bit off my game so to speak. Glad you guys had a good time!

  2. Cool…I have always wanted to go there.Nat
