I feel like I’ve been neglecting Hailey’s blog lately. MumsTheWurd is picking up it’s pace and I enjoy doing it so much but I really don’t want to lose focus of why I started blogging in the first place. If it weren’t for Hailey and some dear friends of ours, I probably wouldn’t have gotten into this.
I’ve been learning more and more about “tweaking” the blog templates and having so much fun with it. I’m trying to branch out and learn as much as I can about the technical side of blogging. I catch myself thinking throughout the day, “Hmmm…I should blog about that”. Usually, those thoughts are about Hailey and the little things that she is doing that I want to keep in a journal. This blog has served as my journal for her. I abruptly stopped doing the physical baby book and turned to the electronic one. It’s much easier to update and I can do just as many cutesy things here as I can there. Places like Scrapblog and Shutterfly, Photoshop or Picasa have made it fairly simple.
What I really want to do here is tell you how Hailey thinks the garbage can in the bathroom is actually the sink. Throughout the day, I go in there and find random things in the sink. Dirty diapers, toys, little pieces of paper, lint, etc. She has this idea in her head that is where the “barbage” goes.
There are also some Haileyisms that are floating around the house and I don’t want to forget about them a couple of weeks from now when she’s moved on to something else ridiculously funny to hear. Like recently, I started singing the “Jello” song to her. I started off, “J, E, L, L, O!” and she ended it with, “P!” It’s so funny how they can just pick up on things. I would have never thought of it that way. She was thinking alphabet and I was thinking catchy tune.
She is very attached to two of her Schleich animals. Lucy and Wins II. Oh, just to catch you up, Wins was never found so we brought Wins II home a week ago. Wins II disappeared for a couple of days but then daddy found him buried in the sand. Lucy is the puppy. She’s very small and I’m surprised she hasn’t gone missing for more than just a day. She spent the entire day in the snack tray of Hailey’s car seat this past week. You can’t imagine how happy she was when Lucy was found. Lucy also goes by the name Odie. That is her alter-ego. Lucy is also the name of Hailey’s Auntie Al’s new puppy. She is pretty fond of Lucy, from a distance. But I digress. Lucy and Wins II generally never leave the hands of the 22 month old toddler. They are even invited for sleepovers every night.
An incident I failed to report on late last week was the emptying of the dresser drawers incident. Hailey decided she wasn’t taking a nap one day and when I went to get her, two dresser-drawers full of clothes were piled up on her bed. She was covered, her diaper was off and she was announcing “poo-poos”. I feared the worst. Luckily, I guess, there was only pee in the bed and most likely on assorted clothes. BIG laundry day for mama. We had a chat about taking off the diaper and the potty seat was mentioned. I told you that one time it was a fluke, didn’t I? She hasn’t gone near the potty since. She wants nothing to do with it.
Well, we fixed the dresser drawer situation. The dresser has since been moved into the closet. Luckily, there is a lock on that closet door so when she decides that she knows how to open doors, problem is solved once again. Parents, 1, toddler, 0.
Other than that, the toddler bed has been working out quite swimmingly. She does get in and out now. She’s figured it out that she doesn’t have to sit there and wait for us. Generally when she’s finished napping or wakes up in the morning, there are numerous other stuffed friends who have made their way onto the bed for the sleepover. Sometimes I think she is too nice and barely leaves any room for herself to sleep.
Today and yesterday have been pretty low key. Hailey has an end of summer cold, so we’ve been playing with a lot of Play Doh, making coats and whatnot. She’s been doing some drawing, which sooner or later here I will post, as long as nobody steals her masterpieces.
My goal is to do some more revamping of this site. That’s the problem with learning how to tweak these templates…I’m never really happy with them. They always need more work.
I’m sure I’ll come up with some more little Haileyisms to share, as well. Nights have been becoming awfully late and that makes for a moody mommy the next day. Time to call it a night.

very cute stories/journal entries! i laughed right out loud when you wrote she was announcing “poo-poos”
