Trying something different

A change from the norm this morning. Usually, it’s dry “cho’s” and a sippy cup of milk. She seemed to prefer eating her cereal like a big girl a lot more.

We have a sick daddy and a rainy day in the suburbs this morning. Hailey is showing signs of catching her daddy’s cold. I suppose everyone is entitled to their own summer cold. I hope I don’t catch it. :)

This past week was one of recovery from all of the busyness of last weekend. We did a lot of chilling out (no pun intended) around the house, avoiding the 90+ degree weather. Hailey is surprising us every day with new words and phrases that she’s been picking up. Who would have thought she could get even more precious than she already is? ;) It’s amazing how fast these kids learn.

She’s been really into her zoo and farm animals lately. Whenever we go to Target, we pick up a new animal for her collection. So far, she has lion, elephant, tiger, zebra, pony, pig, giraffe and panda. I hope I haven’t left anyone out. Now I’m anxious to get her back to the zoo. Surprisingly, we haven’t been to the zoo yet this year. I think we’ll make a day of it in the coming weeks. I particularly like the Lincoln Park Zoo in the city because it’s FREE.

Hailey has also started referring to her relatives by “name”. She knows that when I say “Grammy”, I’m talking about Grammy Peggy. She saw a teacher on t.v. the other day and called her “Grandma”. So, she must know that Grandma Barb is a teacher. She also has her “Nana” Pat wrapped around her little fingers, calling for her when she leaves the room.

It’s hard for me to believe that in just over two months, my little sprout will be two years old. Time really flies when you’re having the time of your life, I guess. Still trying to decide what her Halloween costume will be. Even if we choose something different, she’ll still be our little ladybug.

  1. And she’s even double fisting it! I know, time really does fly, doesn’t it? I’m thinking Corinne will be Minnie Mouse, seeing as how she talks about Minnie night and day. That, and we have a spare costume! :)

  2. it amazes me too just how fast time goes! georgia will be starting pre-3 end of this month. SCHOOL! MY BABY’S STARTING SCHOOL! :( somebody hand me a tissue.
