Sheeps go baaaaa

I took the bug to the Cosley Zoo in Wheaton this morning. It’s a cute, “free” little zoo not too far from home. I figured since she knows what sounds certain animals make, it would be a fine time to get up close and personal with them.

*Today is collage-mania day. Remember, you can click on the collages to enlarge them for more detail.

First, we went inside of the barn to visit with the three little piggies. We were told they were just brought in last night because they lost their homes due to some big bad wolf or something. They were a little timid at first (can you blame them?) but ended up coming out and romping around a little bit.

Next, we went over to see the goats. Hailey wasn’t sure what to make of them. One came up and told her his name was “Gruff” and so were all of the others. They started telling her a story about some ugly troll, with eyes as big as saucers, and a nose as long as a poker. We decided to just move along because I didn’t want them scaring her. It was fine with them, as they were busy fighting over an empty macaroni and cheese box anyway.

Then, we strolled over to see some sheep. Apparently, they were staying at the barn because they wandered away from their friend, oh what was her name…Bo Peep? Yeah, I think that’s what they said. Anyway, the inn keepers were nice enough to put them up for the night until they could reach Bo Peep on her cell phone.

We ventured outside of the barn and over to say hello to the cows. They were extremely tired because they had both taken turns jumping over the moon last night. One of them started telling us some crazy story about a dish running away with a spoon and I told Hailey not to believe a word of it. There is no such thing as a dish and spoon with legs. Silly cow.

We crossed the path over to see the horses. Well, one of them wasn’t too inviting. He decided to go number two, right in front of Hailey. She was not very impressed by this. In fact, she thought it was down right rude and “ucky”. Her facial expressions should give that away.

Since we weren’t really welcomed by the horses, we decided not to stick around for any stories. Instead, we went over to visit the lonely donkey, all by himself. He sort of reminded us of Donkey on the movie Shrek.

We went on our way, down the path to visit some other assorted animals.

We saw the llamas (my favorite),

the deer, the coyote, the ducks and the two turtle doves. They’re just hanging around, waiting for Christmas. Something about a pear tree…

We had a very nice time at the Cosley Zoo. We ended our little adventure by having some snacks, hugging a pig and kissing a baby leopard.
