To sleep or not to sleep?

Lately we’ve been having trouble figuring out if Hailey still really needs two naps or only one. If we put her down in the morning, say around 10:00, she’s generally tired enough to sleep until close to noon. The problem that arises then is that she won’t sleep in the afternoon, when she really NEEDS to sleep. Otherwise, she gets super crabby and has to go to bed by 6:30 pm. I may be making a mountain out of a molehill here because no matter what time she goes to bed, she still gets up around 6:30 – 7:00 a.m. I don’t really see a problem with that.

If I hold her off for a nap until close to 1:00 pm, she’ll generally take a good 3-4 hour nap. I like this the best. Then, she has a nice evening and goes to bed at a more reasonable hour of say, 7:00 or 7:30 pm. the problem here is, it is VERY hard to hold her off that long. We basically have to make sure we are out of the house getting a ton of stimulation. This leads me to believe, she still really needs that morning nap. the past couple of days, as we are driving to or from a location, she has fallen asleep in the car because she’s so tired. Then, she takes a horrible nap when we get home.

I’ll be interested to see what the schedule looks like after daylight savings time next week. It will be light out a lot longer at night. This might trick her into staying up later and sleeping in longer. I would be pretty happy about that. I think the nap schedule would even itself out. We shall see…

  1. wow. finn is already working on going to one nap. with V, she had to do her nap around 1230 until she got to be about 2, then she pushed back to 2ish.
