An afternoon at the museum

I woke up this morning planning on taking Hailey to the Shedd Aquarium and then realized that my keys were missing (car, house, etc.). I thought that I may have left the keys on the back of our car (the car that Eric drives to work). I took Hailey for a quick sled ride around the back yard and just knew that I left them there after I went inside. I was convinced that they were gone; along Eric’s route to work or buried in a snow-plowed snow pile outside of our house.

I sat for about three hours, stewing. I looked EVERYWHERE. I mean EVERYWHERE! I am a very thorough person. However, I decided to really retrace my steps yet again. I called several places that we visited over the weekend. I thought I’d have to go outside and dig through that frozen snow pile. Well, I decided to go back out and look in the car again. Sure enough, under the seat, along with the stale goldfish and cheerios, were my keys. Somehow, they ended up there. I was angry at myself for not looking even harder, three hours before. Lesson learned: make an extra set of keys.

So, the aquarium will have to wait until next Tuesday (free day). Today, we had a fun time at the DuPage Children’s Museum. It was our first visit and Hailey loved it. She went from exhibit to exhibit, playing and exploring. Here are some pictures from our day:

We played under the black lights:

We froze our shadows:

We played in the mini “lazy river”:

We made giant bubbles with a hula-hoop:

We walked through the air tunnel:

The day ended up being fun and productive after all. We’re looking forward to our visit to the aquarium next week.
