*Edit: I’m leaving this recap here because it was an original “Ladybug Picnic” post. The rest of the posts below were posted on a different blog or Eric’s blog and are more detailed.
The past few weeks have been stressful. Hailey had been sick for about 3 weeks. She started out with diarrhea and then became dehydrated. Had her back and forth to the doctor and to the ER. She ended up having four seizures on Tuesday, April 4th. We brought her to the ER and she was then admitted. Numerous tests were performed to figure out the cause of the seizures (MRI, EEG, spinal tap, neumogram, blood tests, cat scan). All of her tests came back normal. So, the cause of the seizures is unknown. We thought she had rotavirus but that came back negative. We still think that’s what she had. We brought her home from the hospital on Friday, April 7th. Her diarrhea never really stopped. On Sunday, April 9th, she developed a fever and the diarrhea came back full force. She started to refuse her bottles on Tuesday the 11th, so back to the ER and she was admitted once again. They hydrated her and her stool test for rotavirus came back positive this time. She was discharged on Saturday, April 15th, just in time for Easter. We didn’t have much of an Easter though, because Eric ended up getting sick Saturday night.
Now that she is home and seeming to feel much better; she is as active as can be. She really enjoys her Exersaucer and putting everything in her mouth. She has been noticing more lately, too. She likes to put her hands on our faces and she laughs and talks a lot. She seems to have fully regained her strength.
Trying to feed her solids now; yesterday she took two bowls of rice cereal; one in the a.m. and one in the p.m. We’ll probably stick with that for another few days and see how she does. Then, maybe try some veggies.
