In the past month, Hailey has figured out how to grab at toys. She’s laughing now, which is the most amazing sound I’ve ever heard. When she laughs, it instantaneously puts a huge smile on our faces. She’s growing so fast. She can now almost put a full foot down on the bottom of her Exersaucer and she enjoys playing with the toys on it. She bats at them and rolls them in her hands. She’s sitting up better now.

Still needs support but she has almost got the hang of it. She isn’t rolling yet but in the past couple of nights, she’s come very close.

Hard to believe that 5 months have passed already for this little one. It’s truly an incredible thing to watch a baby grow and learn. I’ve been attempting to feed her rice cereal with a spoon. I gave up for about a week when it seemed like more of a waste than anything. I tried again last night and she ate very well. She still has the tongue thrust reflex but she still keeps most of the food in. You’ll think I’m a liar when you see this picture:

It was so fun to feed her, I just laughed as she sprayed the cereal all over me.
We’ve been attending playgroups together and she is really starting to notice the other babies and children. Sometimes I think she watches them and then when we get home, she tries to act like “one of the big kids”. She was rolling over onto her side when we got home from the playgroup today and she was watching a baby do that earlier.
We had spent the night at Grandma Barb’s house and she did fantastic. She also spent the night, alone, at Grandpa George’s and Nana Pat’s house. They were pretty impressed with how well she behaved and so were we! She’s been a bit cranky these days – we believe she might be teething. It’s not unheard of at her age. The question on my lips every day now is, “When will the teeth pop through?”. There are times where she just can’t be cheered up. I keep trying though.
The little bug is still sleeping through the night…from about 8 pm or so to close to 7 am in the morning. Nap schedule is the same; down an hour and a half to two hours after waking from the previous nap.
We have a little “daddy routine”. When Eric comes home from work or school, Hailey and I sit on the top stair-step and bounce up and down when he comes into site. I chant “da-da-da-da” and she LOVES it. She smiles so big at him. She knows who her daddy is.
